Our Elders and Deacons
OUR ELDERS
Woodland Hills is scripturally organized with a group of men who serve as elders, also known as pastors or bishops. They work diligently as overseers of the congregation, instructing members and offering spiritual guidance. They are men whose lives and families reflect Godliness in every way (1 Timothy 3:2-7, Titus 1:5-9). It is a fine work they do (1 Timothy 3:1), and we honor them as the shepherds of our flock.
- “Therefore, I exhort the elders among you…to shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock.” (1 Peter 5:1-3)
We are blessed to have four elders who oversee and shepherd the congregation at Woodland Hills:
- Alan Jones
- Jack Wiley
- Shawn Nash
- Tim Purdom
OUR DEACONS
We also have seven men who serve as deacons. The word "deacon" simply means "servant." Deacons in the New Testament were qualified and chosen to perform special works of service as determined by the eldership (Philippians 1:1; 2 Timothy 3:8-13). Our deacons are:
- Jim Dalrymple
- Duane Davis
- Chad Guyer
- Wayne Guyer
- Denny Jones
- Jeff Wise
- Austin Young
